Apothecary gardens were originally a collection of plants
designed to illustrate the relationships within groups of plants.
Yet, over time these gardens have evolved to be primarily concerned with
exhibiting the ornamental qualities of the medicinal plants and herbs with
a scheme that emphasizes natural relationships.

Presently, gardeners are working with combining or blending
the two styles to show off the plants’ beauty and taxonomic order.
However, as with any garden design one must consider the correct soil properties,
light conditions and temperature zones for planting each plant in respect
to its individual requirements.
